No, Medicare will not pay for lifting devices.
Can I install a lift device myself?
Self-installation of stairlifts or platform lifts is strongly discouraged. Please read the opinion of the Association of Members of the Accessibility Equipment Industry at www.aema.com/positionpaper_liftinstallation.pdf.
Can a lift be installed outside?
Yes, there are models available for outside installation if allowed by local building codes.
How wide do my stairs need to be for a stairlift?
Stairs need to be 36” wide. Variances may oftentimes be obtained from your city, township or village.
Is a stairlift noisy while operating?
No, a stairlift is very quiet and may generate a ‘purring’ sound.
Is a stairlift bulky?
No. Your stairlift has a seat cushion that may be flipped up when not in use. This allows for easy access by others to the stairway.
Is the stairlift mounted to the wall?
No, the stairlifts is not mounted to the wall. It is designed to move vertically on a rail system that attaches to the treads of your stairway.
Do I need a permit for a stairlift?
Yes. Adaptive Environments will file all necessary permits which are needed prior to the installation of your product.
Does the State of Michigan have any requirements?
Yes, we arrange for the State Inspection after installation.
Do you install any products outside the state of Michigan?
No. Adaptive Environments is licensed to install residential elevators, platform lifts, and stairlifts in Michigan.
