Allyn Mark: Hello my name is Allyn Mark and this is Michigan Business Biography. Today we visit Adaptive Environments, a local company that custom designs and installs chair stairlifts and in-home elevator systems. What’s more, they have a fabulous showroom where customers can actually test drive their in-home mobility products.
Mark Bosley: The best way for me to describe our company is that we are a licensed elevator contractor. Our trade is regulated by the state of Michigan, we’re licensed by the state of Michigan as elevator contractors. We sell and install lifts for handicap accessibility and elevators for the home. Well we service what we sell. So now-a-days you can go onto the internet, and you can see stairlifts; lots of them, and those people, wherever they are will be happy to send something to your home in a box and then it’s up to you to figure out what to do with it. How to install it, how to make it fit, how to adjust it, if it is even an appropriate product for your purposes. And then what happens when something doesn’t work? Who are you going to call? They’re not going to email a technician to you, trust me! So, we service all the products that we sell and we sell lifts and we install lifts throughout the state of Michigan. We’ve done thousands, literally thousands.
Derek Nowak: Well what I do when I come out to your home is the first thing I do is take a look at your stairway. I make some measurements and make sure that I know exactly what we’re looking at and then I will actually evaluate the situation to see what type of stairlift you need, where it needs to be installed, and make sure that I’m meeting the need of the client. Because not everybody has the same exact need. A lot of people can use a stairlift, some people cannot. There’s different weight capacities. There’s a lot of different things to take into consideration when selling and installing a stairlift, and that’s what I do. I’m a specialist at this for almost 10 years now.
The benefits of our showroom is you get to come in and physically feel, and ride, what you may be purchasing. There’s not a lot of places in the state that have that capability. Not only that, our office is fully accessible. You don’t have any stairs to climb, any bridges to climb, or anything. You can come in on a level ground and you come into our showroom and you get to see we have all the lifts that we sell on display that are fully fuctional, operational, and it makes a big difference. People love when they can come in and ride our stairlifts because they get to feel, touch, and see what they’re buying.
Allyn Mark: If a stairlift is in your future, visit Adaptive Environments. Always glad to give you a lift.
